Binance KYC (Know Your Customer) identity verification is the first hurdle every new user faces. Many people feel lost after registration, unsure what to prepare or how to proceed. In reality, the process is straightforward if you follow the steps.
If you don't have a Binance account yet, register a Binance account first, then follow the steps below to complete identity verification. Mobile users should get the Binance APP first, as the KYC process is smoother on the app.
KYC Verification Levels
Binance's KYC has two main levels:
Basic verification (Verified): Requires submitting basic personal information and ID photos. Upon completion, you can access most trading features and have a relatively high daily withdrawal limit.
Advanced verification (Verified Plus): Adds facial recognition and proof of address on top of basic verification. Grants the highest withdrawal limits and full feature access.
For most regular users, basic verification is sufficient for everyday use.
What to Prepare Before Starting
Have the following ready before beginning KYC:
- Valid government-issued ID: ID card, passport, or driver's license (must be within the validity period)
- Smartphone: Needs a front-facing camera for photos or facial recognition
- Stable internet connection: Avoid disconnections during the verification process
- Well-lit environment: Good lighting for document photos
Basic KYC Step-by-Step
Step 1: Access the Verification Page
After logging into your Binance account, click the user icon in the top right corner and select "Identification" from the dropdown menu. The system displays your current verification status and available levels.
Step 2: Fill in Personal Information
On the verification page, enter the following:
- Legal name (must match your ID exactly)
- Date of birth
- Nationality
- Residential address
Make sure the name exactly matches your ID — for Chinese names, write in Chinese characters, not pinyin, and avoid typos.
Step 3: Upload ID Document
After selecting your document type, follow the prompts to photograph or upload document images. You typically need to submit:
- Front of the document
- Back of the document (if using an ID card)
- Selfie holding the document (sometimes required)
Ensure all four corners are visible, text is clearly readable, and there is no glare or obstruction.
Step 4: Facial Recognition
After uploading documents, the system requires facial recognition. Follow the on-screen prompts to position your face within the frame, facing the camera directly, and perform requested actions (such as blinking or turning your head).
We recommend performing facial recognition in evenly lit conditions without hats or sunglasses, with no facial obstruction.
Step 5: Submit and Wait for Review
After completing all steps, click submit. The system shows "Under Review" status. Basic verification typically completes within a few minutes to a few hours.
Advanced KYC Steps
If you need higher withdrawal limits, you can proceed with advanced verification after basic verification passes:
- Go to the identity verification page and click "Advanced Verification"
- Submit proof of address documents as required (such as bank statements or utility bills)
- Complete additional facial recognition
- Submit and wait for review
Advanced verification review typically takes longer, possibly 1-3 business days.
Common Issues During Verification
Document photos keep failing to upload: Check if the photo exceeds the size limit (usually no more than 5 MB), if the format is JPG or PNG, and if the photo is clear and complete.
Facial recognition keeps failing: Ensure adequate and even lighting, no facial obstruction, and follow the prompts slowly without rushing.
Can I correct information after submission?: You can modify anything before submission. After submission, you need to contact Binance customer support for assistance.
What You Can Do After Verification
After completing KYC, your Binance account unlocks the following features:
- Use C2C trading to buy and sell crypto with local currency
- Higher daily withdrawal limits
- Participate in Launchpad token sales
- Use advanced features like futures trading
- Enhanced account security protection
Identity verification is a foundational step for using Binance. We recommend new users complete it as soon as possible after registration. With proper documents and by following the steps above, the entire process typically takes just about ten minutes.
