What Should You Do First After Registering on Binance?

Congratulations on successfully registering your Binance account! But registration is just the beginning — there are several important steps to complete next. If you haven't registered yet, register a Binance account now. Don't forget to get the Binance APP installed on your phone.

Step 1: Complete KYC Identity Verification

This is the most important step after registration. Without KYC, your account features will be significantly limited — you won't be able to use C2C trading, withdraw funds, and trading limits will be restricted.

How to do it: Open the Binance APP, tap the avatar in the top left to enter your profile, find "Identity Verification." Follow the prompts to enter your real name and ID number, upload front and back photos of your ID, and complete facial recognition.

When photographing your ID, ensure adequate lighting, all four corners visible in the frame, no glare or obstruction. For facial recognition, remove glasses and hats, face the camera directly. Verification review typically completes within a few minutes to 24 hours.

Step 2: Set Up Security Protection

Account security is paramount. Complete the following in the "Security Center":

Bind Google Authenticator. Download the Google Authenticator APP, open Binance's authenticator binding page, scan the QR code to complete binding. After binding, you'll need to enter the 6-digit dynamic code from the authenticator for each login and withdrawal. Be sure to write down the backup key on paper and store it safely — you'll need it if your phone is lost or replaced.

Set anti-phishing code. Customize a text or number string. All official emails from Binance will subsequently include this string. If a "Binance email" arrives without your anti-phishing code, it's a phishing email.

Bind dual verification. Ensure both email and phone are linked, so critical operations require multiple verification methods simultaneously for higher security.

Step 3: Familiarize Yourself with the APP

Spend a few minutes browsing the main functional modules of the Binance APP:

  • Home — Market overview, quick buy entry points
  • Markets — Real-time prices and changes for all cryptocurrencies
  • Trade — Spot trading, futures trading, and more
  • Earn — Binance Earn financial products
  • Assets — Portfolio overview, deposits and withdrawals

We recommend switching to "Lite mode" first for a simpler interface, then switching to "Pro mode" later for more advanced features.

Step 4: Make a Small Test Deposit

We recommend keeping your first deposit small (say 100-500 CNY equivalent) to familiarize yourself with the entire process.

The most common deposit method is C2C trading: Tap the "Buy Crypto" button on the homepage, select "C2C Trading," choose to buy USDT, enter the amount, and the system will automatically match merchants. Follow the instructions to pay via Alipay, WeChat, or bank card. Once the merchant confirms, the USDT arrives in your account.

For your first transaction, choose a verified merchant with high volume and good ratings. Do not write anything related to virtual currencies in the transfer notes.

Step 5: Make Your First Trade

After successfully depositing, you can use USDT to buy your preferred cryptocurrency. Beginners should start with mainstream tokens like BTC (Bitcoin) or ETH (Ethereum).

On the spot trading page, search for the BTC/USDT trading pair. You can choose a market order (instant execution at current price) or limit order (set a target price and wait for execution). A market order is simpler and more intuitive for your first trade.

Special Reminders for Beginners

Do not jump into futures trading right away — futures use leverage and carry high risk, making them unsuitable for beginners. First accumulate experience and knowledge in the spot market, then consider advanced products once you have sufficient understanding.

Crypto investment carries risk. Only invest money you can afford to lose, and never borrow to invest. Maintain a learning mindset — Binance Academy has abundant free educational resources.
